Promises of enlightening perspectives and introspective moments wait for you as we embark on a journey through Leviticus, Chapter 2. Brace yourself for an in-depth exploration of one of the most complex yet enlightening concepts in the Bible - the significance of grain offerings. This episode dives into the four sections of the grain offering - the uncooked, the cooked, the offering of first fruits, and the law of the male offering - and the meticulous details God expects in each. We also unpack the crucial role that priests, particularly Aaron and his sons, carried out in these sacred rituals.

But, that's not all. Our journey takes a turn as we delve into how grain offerings have been manipulated and misused over the centuries. We thoughtfully examine why forbidden ingredients like leaven, a symbol of sin, were an absolute no-go in these offerings. Furthermore, we gently debunk the misconception involving modern-day pastors as Levites and the guilt-triggered offerings they might demand. This episode promises to challenge your perspectives, provoke deep introspection, and kindle a newfound appreciation for God's Word. So, buckle up, open your hearts and minds, and get ready for an insightful ride through the scriptures. And don't forget to like, share, and spread the word about our podcast!

Speaker 2:

The altar an offering made by fire and aroma pleasing to the Lord. The rest of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons. It is a most holy part of the offerings made to the Lord by fire. If you bring a grain offering baked in an oven, it is to consist of fine flour, cakes made without yeast and mixed with oil, or wafers made without yeast and spread with oil. If your grain offering is prepared on a griddle, it is to be made of fine flour mixed with oil and without yeast. Crumble it and pour oil on it. It is a grain offering. If your grain offering is cooked in a pan, it is to be made of fine flour and oil. Bring the grain offering made of these things to the Lord, present it to the priest, who shall take it to the altar. He shall take out the memorial portion from the grain offering and burn it on the altar as an offering made by fire and aroma pleasing to the Lord.

Speaker 2:

The rest of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons. It is a most holy part of the offerings made to the Lord by fire. Every grain offering you bring to the Lord must be made without yeast, for you are not to burn any yeast or honey in an offering made to the Lord by fire. You may bring them to the Lord as an offering of the first fruits, but they are not to be offered on the altar as a pleasing aroma. Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings. Add salt to all your offerings. If you bring a grain offering of first fruits to the Lord, offer crushed heads of new grain roasted in the fire. Put oil and incense on it. It is a grain offering. The priest shall burn the memorial portion of the crushed grain and the oil, together with all the incense, as an offering made to the Lord by fire.

Speaker 1:

Okay, now we are talking about the grain offering. Now, to my knowledge, this is the only offering in the book of Leviticus that actually did not require blood. That was not a blood offering. There are several themes to this chapter of Leviticus. There is the offering of mixed but unbaked, there is the offerings of mixed and baked, there is the offering of first fruits and there is the law of the male offering.

Speaker 1:

What we notice in this chapter is that God only wants offerings that are holy. He doesn't want anything unholy. I'll give you an example have you ever watched a gangster movie or a movie involving drug dealers or something like that? These guys will have some type of ties to the church. They'll have a priest or a pastor or someone whom they reach out to for advice, and they are in criminal activity and they will make offerings to the church Does maybe cleanse their soul or maybe whatever it is they think they're doing. That is not the type of offering that the Lord works. Excuse me, the Lord wants. The Lord doesn't want an offering that has any debauchery or any sin tied to it. He wants it to be a holy offering.

Speaker 1:

Now, what we notice in this chapter is that there are four Sections to it, and we that's how we're gonna break this down into four sections. The first is the uncooked grain offering. We see this in verses one through three. Now, when anyone presents a grain offering as an offering to the Lord, his offering shall be a fine flower and he shall pour oil on it, put frankincense on it. He shall then bring it to Aaron sons, the priest, and Shall take from it its handfuls of fine flower, of his oil, with our, its frankincense, and the priest shall offer it up in smoke as its memorial portion on the altar and offering of fire by a soothing aroma To the Lord. And the remainder of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons, a theme most holy of the offerings to the Lord. We see that the Lord is very specific in how he wants this offering given. We sees that he wants it with pure oil, and we see that whatever is left was to be given to Aaron and his sons.

Speaker 1:

Now, remember, aaron and his sons are the Levites, and the Levites were the one tribe that did not get a portion of the land. So by giving them part of this offering, this is how they were to get their, their pay, if you will, to get something, since they didn't have any land. Now, this type of Teaching right here has actually been abused over the years. There are a lot of you know, quote unquote pastors today who Believe that somehow, that they are part of the Levites. But let's not be mistaken the Levites were from the tribe of Levi, from the tribe of Israel, not modern-day pastors.

Speaker 1:

What we notice next is the cooked grain offering. We see this in verses four through ten. Now, when you bring an offering of a grain offering baked in the oven, it shall be Unleavened cakes, a fine flour mixed with oil, of unleavened wafers spread with oil. And if Offering is a grain offering made on the griddle, it shall be a fine flour, unleavened, mixed with oil. You shall break it into bits and pour oil on it. It is a grain offering. Now, if your offering is a grain offering made in a pan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil. When you bring in the grain offering which is made of these things to the Lord, it shall be presented to the priest and he shall bring it to the altar. The priest, then, shall take up from the grain offering its memorial portion and Shall offer it up in smoke on the altar as an offering by a fire of a soothing aroma to the Lord, and the remainder of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons, a thing most holy of the offerings To the Lord by fire. Now we notice again that what is left of this part of the offering the girl, this grain offering, is to be given to Aaron and his sons.

Speaker 1:

And I do want to say, as I read the first section, I was saying that there are no leave ice today that you're supposed to give offerings to. Let me be clear If you go to a local church, I am not saying that you should not give an offering. Hey, I say this all the time. If you are enjoying the, the air in the summertime, the heat in the winter time, if you join the lights which makes it easy for you to read and see, you should give something, because we all know that those things are not free. So that is not what I'm saying. What I am saying is that your pastor is not a Levite and he should not be trying to abuse his congregation by somehow making him be a A Levite and kind of give you a guilt trip on you giving an offering. It should be a free. We'll offer into the Lord. Okay, we're gonna move on.

Speaker 1:

The third section, the handling of the grain offering by the priests. We see this in verses 11 through 13. No grain offering which you bring to the Lord shall be made with leaven, for you shall not offer up in smoke any leaven or any honey as an offering by fire to the Lord. As an offering of first fruits, you shall bring them to the Lord, but they shall not ascend for a soothing aroma on the altar. Every grain offering of yours, moreover, you shall season with salt, so that the salt of the covenant of your God shall not be lacking from your grain offering. With all your offerings, you shall offer salt.

Speaker 1:

Now, what we notice here is that, when you go back to verse 11, no grain offerings which you bring to the Lord shall be made with leaven. Remember, the Lord does not want leaven in the offering. Leaven in this time represented sin, so everything had to be unleavened. Then we will move on to the fourth section, the early ripened roast grain offering. We see this in verses 14 through 16, which closes out the chapter. Also, if you bring a grain offering of early ripened things to the Lord, you shall bring fresh heads of grains roasted in the fire grits of new growth for the grain offering of your early ripened things. You shall then put oil on it and lay incense on it. It is a grain offering and the priest shall offer up in smoke his memorial portion, part of his grits and his oil with all his incense, as an offering by fire to the Lord. If you notice something in this chapter, pretty much everything had oil on it.

Speaker 1:

The Lord was very specific on how he had to get these grain offerings. This was not an issue of you could just grab some grain, throw it up on the table or the wheel cart. Wherever they gave this grain offering at, it had to be brought a specific way to the Lord. It had to be holy to the Lord. It had to be done his way. Remember, the Lord already told Moses do these things. When the Lord said it, he meant do these things specifically, as I asked him to be done. Okay, that brings us to the end of Leviticus, chapter two. Remember, wherever you hear this podcast, whether it's Apple podcast, whether it's Spotify, whether it's iHeart or it's on my bus broad page, give it a like, give it a share, share it with someone you know who loves to hear the Lord of the words, so we can keep this thing going. That is all for now, god bless.
