Numbers 34. The Lord said to Moses, Command the Israelites and say to them, When you enter Canaan, the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance will have these boundaries. Your southern side will include some of the desert of Zin along the border of Edom. On the east, your southern boundary will start from the end of the Salt Sea, cross south of Scorpion Pass, continue on to Zinn, and go south of Kadesh Barnia. Then it will go to Haza Adar and over to Asman, where it will turn, join the Wadi of Egypt, and end the sea. Your western boundary will be the coast of the Great Sea. This will be your boundary on the west. For your northern boundary, run a line from the Great Sea to Mount Ho, and from Mount Hoar to Libo Hamath. Then the boundary will go to Zadad, continue to Zifron, and end at Hazar Anan. This will be your boundary on the north. For your eastern boundary, run a line from Hazar Anan to Shifam. The boundary will go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain, and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Kenrith. Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Salt Sea. This will be your land with its boundaries on every side. Moses commanded the Israelites, Assign this land by lot as an inheritance. The Lord has ordered that it be given to the nine and a half tribes, because the families of the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance. These two and a half tribes have received their inheritance on the east side of the Jordan of Jericho toward the sunrise. The Lord said to Moses, These are the names of the men who are to assign the land for you as an inheritance. Eliezer the priest, and Joshua, son of Nun, and appoint one leader from each tribe to help assign the land. These are their names. Caleb, son of Jephune, from the tribe of Judah, Shemuel, son of Amehud, from the tribe of Simeon, Eliadad, son of Kislan, from the tribe of Benjamin, Bukai, son of Jogli, the leader from the tribe of Dan, Aniel, son of Ephad, the leader from the tribe of Manasseh, son of Joseph, Kemuel, son of Shftan, the leader from the tribe of Ephraim, son of Joseph, Elisaphan, son of Parnak, the leader from the tribe of Zebulun, Poltiel, son of Azan, the leader from the tribe of Issachar, Ahihud, son of Shalomai, the leader from the tribe of Asher, Pedehel, son of Amahud, the leader from the tribe of Naphtali. These are the men the Lord commanded to assign the inheritance to the Israelites in the land of Canaan.

We went through all the places that they camped, 41 places in total, as a recap and showing the journey that the Lord took them on, reminding them that the Lord was with them in Egypt, and he was with them along the way of this journey. Today we are looking at Israel getting close to the land and how the land is going to be proportioned. Well we notice is how this chapter starts out. In verses 1 through 2, it says that the Lord spoke to Moses. So you look at verse 1, then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Command the sons of Israel, and say to them, When you enter the land of Canaan, this is the land that shall fall to you as an inheritance, even the land of Canaan according to its borders. So you know, when you look at verse 1, 1 and verse 2, we want to make it clear who the Lord is speaking to. Of course, you know I like to always point that out. Then when it comes to who is going to get this land and what's happening here is that Israel is going into the land and the Lord is establishing land boundaries. Now, in the times that we live in, when you go to a different state, there's usually a sign. Uh now they may have a line that you and I can't see, but you usually pass a sign that says welcome to this state, and sometimes it will have state logos or whatever the state is called. For example, you may pass a sign that says, you know, welcome to the Cornhusker state, welcome to the golden state, or whatever it may be to let you know that you are entering into a new state. Back then they didn't have this. So what happened was the Lord gave them the boundaries by towns because they didn't have a way to do a survey back then. So the Lord would say, you know, to you, have this town from this side to this side, or this town to this town, and that is how they actually established, you know, the boundary mark so that you know, uh, so that what was happening right here is that Israel is getting ready to enter into Canaan. And the Lord is letting them know this is how you, you know, know the boundary. So, like, you know, they can look down on the land, they kind of know whatever this town is. And the Lord says, you know, you're gonna get that town from the east to the west. They so they know, okay, so that's one land boundary, and you're gonna get this area from the south to the north. Okay, that's how we're gonna establish this boundary. So in this time, this is how the Lord let them know what the boundaries were. Now, we are gonna break this chapter down into two parts. The first part, the land boundaries. We see this in verses one through fifteen. We're gonna look at land boundary number one, which is the south land boundaries. We notice this in verses three through five. Your southern sector shall extend from the wilderness of Zen along the side of Edom, and your southern boundary shall extend from the end of the Salt Sea eastward. Then your boundaries shall turn directions from the south to the accent of Akrabim and continue to Zen, and it's enter my nation, excuse me, and then its termination shall be to the south of Kadesh Barnea, and it shall reach Had Zar Radar and continue into Asmon. And the border shall turn direction from Asmon to the brook of Egypt, and its termination shall be at the sea. So as I was saying, this is how they establish the land. They know these areas here and these boundaries, and the Lord has given them the boundaries. Number two would be the west boundary. Notice verse six. As for the west border, you shall have the great sea, that is its coastline. This shall be your west border. And number three, we notice the northland boundaries. We see this in verses seven to nine. And this shall be your north border. You shall draw your borderline from the Great Sea to Mount Hoar. You shall draw a line from Mount Hoar to the Leboh Hamath, and the termination of the border shall be at Zibdad, and the border shall proceed to Ziphron, and its termination shall be at Hazar-Enoon. This shall be your north border. Number four. We see the east land boundaries. We see this in verses 10 through 13. For your eastern border, you shall also draw a line from Hazar Enon to uh Shaphem. And the border shall go down from Shepham to Bribla on the east side of An, and the border shall go down and reach to the slope on the east side of the sea of Senareph. And the border shall go down to the Jordan, and its termination shall be at the Salt Sea. There shall be your land according to its borders all around. And then number five, we see the Trans Jordan land boundaries in verses 14 and 15. Notice what they say. For the tribe of the sons of Reuben have received theirs according to their father's household, and the tribe of the sons of Gad according to their father's household. And the half tribe of Manasseh, Manasseh shall have received their possession. The two and the half tribes have received their possession across the Jordan, opposite Jericho, eastward towards the sun rising. So we see that those were the land boundaries. And then we'll move on to part two. The land was distributed through appointed leaders. We see this in verses 16 through 29. Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, These are the names of the men who shall apportion the land to you for inheritance. Eliezer the priest and Joshua the son of Nun. And you shall take one leader of every tribe to proportion the land for inheritance. And these are the names of the men, of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephaniah, and of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, Samuel, the son of Amahud, of the tribe of Benjamin, Eliadad, the son of Shlaon, and the tribe of the sons of Dan, a leader of Buchai, the son of Jagli, and of the sons of Joseph, of the tribes of the sons of Joseph, Manasseh, a leader, Henael, the son of Ephad, and the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, a leader, Kemuel, the son of Sheftan, and of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun, a leader, Elizaphan, the son of Panach, and of the tribe of the sons of Ishakur, a leader, Pataliel, the son of Azan, and the tribe of the sons of Asher, a leader, the son of Shulamai, and the tribe of the sons of Naphtali, a leader, Pidahel, the son of Amuhod. These are those whom the Lord commanded to apportion the inheritance to the sons of Israel in the land of Canaan. Now we saw that in verses 16 through 18, that the Lord was given the names of the men he appointed to apportion the land. And in verses 16 19 through 29, we see who the representatives will be, which is what we just read. So not only did the Lord apportion the land, and he told them how to apportion the land and where that land would be apportioned, but we also see that he had Moses appoint leaders to apportion this land. Now, Israel one day will inherit her land. Israel one day will inherit all of this land that the Lord has pointed out. And I do want to close with a few other scriptures that speak on this. So you actually don't have to keep your finger right here in Numbers 34 because we are going to jump to some other chapters. So go back left in your Bible to Exodus and go to Exodus chapter 6. Sorry, my pages are sticking together. Exodus chapter 6. And we are looking at verse 8. And I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And I will give it to you for a possession. I am the Lord. Go write in your Bible to Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy chapter 6. Deuteronomy chapter 6, and notice verse 10. Then it shall come about when the Lord your God brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give you great and splendid cities which you did not build. If you want to write in your Bible, go to Isaiah. When you get to Isaiah, go to chapter 14. Isaiah 14, we're looking at verses 1 and 2. When the Lord will have compassion on Jacob and again choose Israel and settle them in their own land, then strangers will join them and attach themselves to the house of Jacob. And the peoples will take them along and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them as an inheritance in the land of the Lord as male servants and female servants, and they will take their captives, they their captors captive, and will rule over their oppressors. A couple of more. Excuse me, trembling out of their fortresses until the Lord our God there will come in dread, and they will be afraid before thee. Who is a God like thee? Who part is iniquity and passes over the rebellious acts of the remnant of his possession? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in unchanging love. He will again have compassion on us. He will tread our iniquities underfoot. Yes, thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. Thou will give truth to Jacob and unchanging love to Abraham, which thou didst swear to our forefathers from the days of old. So there's a few more spots in there to let you know that the Lord is gonna give Israel that land, and he didn't only make that promise here in what we're reading in Numbers as they're going into Canaan, but he made these promises in other ways through other people to uh drive in the point. All right, that brings us to the end of Numbers chapter 34. As always, I hope you got something out of this lesson, and I hope that it was uh I hope that it was fruit that you needed, and I hope that it helped you put together this puzzle that we're putting together going through this Bible chronologically.
