Welcome And Setting The Study
SPEAKER_01Welcome to Bereen's Corner, the podcast where we go through books of the Bible chapter by chapter and verse by verse. Wherever you are in the world, thank you for joining. Grab a glass of water, a cup of coffee, a tea, and let's get into today's lesson. Alright, welcome back to Through the Bible. Open your Bible to Deuteronomy chapter 22. The title of today's lesson is Sundry Laws. Now, before we read, there is something I would like to mention about sundry laws. For those of you who have been with me uh through every chapter that we have been through so far, you may be thinking to yourself, This sounds familiar like we've done this before. Well, the reason it's familiar is because there are several chapters in the Bible that covers these sundry laws. Uh, we we went through them in Exodus 23, we went through them in Leviticus 19, we are going uh to it right now, through it right now, I should say, in Deuteronomy 22, and we're gonna be going through more sundry laws in Deuteronomy 25, and also, too, there are some other chapters that also have certain sex, certain uh side uh notes of sundry laws in them. Now, what are sundry laws? For those of you who weren't here when we went through Exodus, it is defined as a miscellaneous, unconnected collection of rules or statutes, uh, also unclassified or verified legal forms. So that is the actual definition of what sundry laws are. But today we are in the sundry laws of Deuteronomy chapter 22. So if you have your Bible open to Deuteronomy 22, let's read.
Reading Deuteronomy 22 Sundry Laws
SPEAKER_00Deuteronomy 22. If you see your brother's ox or sheep straying, do not ignore it, but be sure to take it back to him. If the brother does not live near you, or if you do not know who he is, take it home with you and keep it until he comes looking for it. Then give it back to him. Do the same if you find your brother's donkey or his cloak or anything he loses, do not ignore it. If you see your brother's donkey or his ox fallen on the road, do not ignore it. Help him get it to his feet. A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing. For the Lord your God detests anyone who does this. If you come across a bird's nest beside the road, either in a tree or on the ground, and the mother is sitting on the young or on the eggs, do not take the mother with the young. You may take the young, but be sure to let the mother go, so that it may go well with you and you may have a long life. When you build a new house, make a parapet around your roof, so that you may not bring the guilt of bloodshed on your house if someone falls from the roof. Do not plant two kinds of seed in your vineyard. If you do, not only the crops you plant, but also the fruit of the vineyard will be defiled. Do not plough with an ox and a donkey yoked together. Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together. Make tassels on the four corners of the cloak you wear. If a man takes a wife and after lying with her, dislikes her and slanders her, and gives her a bad name, saying, I married this woman, but when I approach her, I do not find proof of her virginity. Then the girl's father and mother shall bring proof that she was a virgin to the town elders at the gate. The girl's father will say to the elders, I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her. Now he has slandered her and said, I did not find your daughter to be a virgin. But here is proof of my daughter's virginity. Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, and the elders shall take the man and punish him. They shall find him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the girl's father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife. He must not divorce her as long as he lives. If however the charge is true, and no proof of the girl's virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father's house, and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done a disgraceful thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father's house. You must purge the evil from among you. If a man is found sleeping with another man's wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel. If a man happens to meet in a town, a virgin pledged to be married, and he sleeps with her, you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death. The girl because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man's wife. You must purge the evil from among you. But if out in the country a man happens to meet a girl pledge to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. Do nothing to the girl. She has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders his neighbor, for the man found the girl out in the country, and though the betrothed girl screamed, there was no one to rescue her. If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and raped her, and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives. A man is not to marry his father's wife, he must not dishonor his father's bed.
Three Truths About God And Us
SPEAKER_01Living holy in everyday life. As we continue our study through Deuteronomy, we come to another chapter filled with practical instructions. Now, at first glance, some of these commands may seem unrelated or even unusual, but every one of them reveals something about the character of God and what he desires from his people. As I study this chapter, three truths immediately stand out to me. First, God is sovereign over every detail of life. Nothing escapes his attention. Not our relationships, our homes, our walk, our possessions, or even the care of his creation. Jesus emphasized the same truth when he said that not even a sparrow falls to the ground apart from the Father's knowledge. We saw that in Matthew chapter 10 and verse 29. Second, we need God's wisdom because there are many situations in life where our own understanding falls short. In Proverbs 3, chapter 3, verses 5 through 6, it reminds us to trust in the Lord rather than lean into our own understanding. That is something that is very key and very important. A lot of times, as humans, we try to lean on our own understanding. We try to uh see things through our eyes, but you have to lean into the Lord's understanding because his ways are above our ways. Third, God knows the condition of the human heart. Jeremiah wrote, the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Who can know it? That's Jeremiah chapter 17 and verse 9. So true. Have you ever heard someone say, you know, God knows my heart? The truth is this is that the Lord does know our heart, but we don't know our heart. When people say that a lot of times, what they are really trying to get at is that, well, I know my heart, and God knows my heart. So God knows my heart to know that that thing that I did, uh, I didn't mean it to come out that way, or maybe I didn't mean to do it, or deep down inside I want to go a different direction. But the truth is, is that the heart is desperately wicked, and only God can know the heart. Jesus said that sinful actions originate in the heart. In Matthew 15, verses 18 through 20, Paul reminds us uh about that about God's grace, that no one is righteous. He said that in Romans chapter 3, verses 10 through 12. Even God's covenant people were capable of sinful decisions if they followed their own desires instead of God's word. That is why these commands were necessary. So, as I mentioned when we started this out a little earlier, you may have heard these sundry laws before, but they are very necessary. And the central truth of this chapter is if God's people desire the blessing of God, they must order their lives according to God's instructions in every area of life. God's commands were never intended to make life miserable. That wasn't the reason the Lord gave us these commandments, they were given because the Heavenly Father knows what leads to blessings and what leads to destruction. I like I like that because a lot of times, especially when you're young, uh, when I say young, I mean young in age and young in your faith, you think like uh kind of how Eve did in the garden when she thought that, yeah, you know, God is hiding something from me. People sometimes think, yeah, God, God is hiding something from me. I mean, why won't the Lord, you know, let me have this or let me have that? When the truth is, is that the Lord already knows where some of these desires will lead
Be A Good Neighbor In Practice
SPEAKER_01to. Moses now presents nine practical instructions for everyday living. The first is be a good neighbor by protecting what belongs to others. We see this in verses one through four. You shall not see your countryman's ox or his sheep straying away and pay no attention to them. You shall certainly bring them back to your countrymen. And if your countrymen is not near you, or if you do not know him, then you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall remain with you until your countrymen looks for it, then you shall restore it to him. Thus you shall do with his donkey, and you shall do the same with his garment, and you shall do likewise with anything lost by your countrymen, which he has lost, and you have found. You are not allowed to neglect them. You shall not see your countryman's donkey or his ox falling down on the way and pay no attention to them. You shall certainly help him to raise them up. God begins with something very practical. If you see your neighbor's livestock wandering away, don't pretend you didn't notice it. Don't say, That's not my problem. Don't call his people, because God calls us, excuse me, God calls his people to love their neighbors through actions. The first rule was do not ignore your neighbors, do not ignore his loss. We saw that in verse 1 when he said, You should not see your countryman's ox or sheep strained. So you're not supposed to ignore it. Love doesn't look the other way, it steps in to help. Jesus taught the same principle in the parable of the Good Samaritan. We saw that in Luke chapter 10, verses 25 through 37. You shouldn't look the other way. If your neighbor's dog is wandering around, I'm kind of using our modern times now. If his dog is wandering around and you see it down the street, don't just keep on going to the grocery store or going to pick up whatever it was. Stop and help your neighbor. Stop, put, reach, uh, you know, pull your car over, grab his or her dog, put them in the car, take them back to your neighbor. And if your neighbor isn't at home, keep the dog with you or put it in your house until you see your neighbor looking for their animal. Number two, care for the lost animal until it can be returned. We kind of just talked about that. If you know who owns it, return it. If you don't know, care for it until the owner is found. God is concerned not only with people, but how his people care for his creation. You know, that right there reminds me of a story that uh had actually happened to my family and I. This was probably it probably was a good four or five years ago. We were out, uh, my wife and I were out walking our two dogs, and out of nowhere, another dog, forgive me, I don't remember the breed, but another dog came out of nowhere. A dog that we actually never seen before. He came up to us and he was just so playful and happy, and he walked with us for the rest of our walk. He didn't run the other way, he didn't see other people and go. He actually walked with us the rest of our walk. We didn't know what to do, so we just walked our dogs and we kept the dog with us. Unfortunately, we didn't have a leash for the dog, but thank the Lord the dog was a good dog and he stayed right by our side. So we make our rounds, and the dog was so comfortable with us, people who weren't even his owners, that when we got back to our house, we uh our dogs on an invisible fence, so we put the collars back on our dogs, and we just let them play in the yard with uh with this dog, and then my wife got on Facebook and put it out there to all of our neighbors because they have like they have like a little neighborhood, you know, thing. For those of you who are on Facebook, you probably know what I'm talking about. And said, Hey, took a picture of him and said, Does anybody know who dogs this is? He just kind of followed us around and he followed us back home and he's still here. The dog got so comfortable with us that he was in the yard with our dogs, and when people would walk down the street, you know how your dogs would get territorial, this dog became territorial of us. He actually started barking at other people as they were going down the street, like you know, uh, hey, stay away from our family. You know, that's how attached he got to us. And that warned my heart so much that even though we did not need another dog at all, I actually told my wife, I said, you know what? If nobody claims this dog, we gotta find a way to keep him. You know, he has actually made himself a part of our family. But thankfully, someone did reach out whose dog it was, and within like 30 minutes from uh from that point, they came and they uh took the dog, and uh it was a nice warm story. So that right there just reminded me of that. Number three, treat all lost property the same way. I guess what I'm saying is is uh be neighborly. That's the point I was making. You know, care for your neighbors, treat all lost property the same way. In verse 3, it says, Thus you shall do with his donkey, you shall do the same with his garment, and you shall do likewise with anything lost by your countrymen, whether it's livestock, clothing, or another possession, God's people are to act honestly. Integrity isn't determined by the value of an item, integrity is it is determined by obedience. Number four, help your neighbor in times of need. In verse 4, it says, You shall not see your countryman's ox or his uh donkey, excuse me, his donkey or his ox falling down on the way and pay no attention to them. You shall certainly help him to rise them up. If any animal has fallen or someone cannot manage alone, don't stand there watching, offer your help. Galatians chapter 6 and verse 2 says, Bear one another's burdens and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. God blesses people who willingly help others. Which brings us to the second set of instructions.
Honoring God’s Design For Sex
SPEAKER_01Honor God's design for male and female. Verse 5 says, A woman shall not wear man's clothing, nor shall a man put on a woman's clothing. For whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God. God established two distinct genders at creation. Genesis chapter 1, verse 27 says, Male and female, he created them. God's design is intentional. This verse teaches that God's people are not to blur or reject the distinctions God Himself created. The issue is not merely clothing, the issue is rejecting God's created order. Throughout scripture, God consistently affirms his design for humanity. Romans chapter 1, verses 24 through 28 explains that rejecting God's created order is evidence of mankind turning away from him. At the same time, the gospel reminds us that no sin places someone beyond God's grace. Paul reminds the Corinthians that many who had lived sinful lifestyles were transferred through faith in Christ. Such were some of you, but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified. 1 Corinthians chapter 6, verses 9 through 11. God caused his people to embrace his design while extending the hope of the gospel to every sinner. And let that stand out. No, uh God did make a design. God did make only two genders, male and female. Doesn't matter what the people in Washington, D.C. try to fight for. There's only two genders, and God does not want his lines blurred. God does not like when people here on this earth try to blur the lines and try to find a way to distinct a male from female. But as we just read, everyone is justified through repentance and for you to ask of the forgiveness of your sins, you are justified. It doesn't matter what you've done, you are justified through the blood of Christ Jesus. Which brings us to the third instruction show compassion even towards God's creation.
Mercy For Creation And Roof Safety
SPEAKER_01Verses 6 and 7 says, If you happen to come upon a bird's nest along the way, in any tree or on the ground with young ones or eggs, and the mother sitting on the young or the eggs, you shall not take the mother with the young. You shall certainly let the mother go, but the young you may take for yourself, in order that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days. One of the beautiful things about scripture is that God even gives instructions regarding birds. If someone found a bird's nest with eggs or young birds, they were permitted to take the young, but they were not to kill the mother bird. Why? Because God values life. Jesus later reminded his disciples that not even a sparrow escapes the father's attention. Matthew chapter 10, verse 29. If God cares about the birds, certainly he cares about people. God's people should never become cruel or careless towards his creation. Mercy reflects the heart of God. Which brings us to instruction number four. Take responsibility for the safety of others. Verse 8 says, When you build a new house, you shall make a parapet for your roof that you may not bring blood guilt on your house if anyone falls from it. Excuse me. Flat roofs were commonly used as living spaces in Israel. That's how it was back in those days. God required a protective railing around the roof. Why? To prevent unnecessary injury. This teaches an important principle. Love anticipates danger before tragedy happens. Believers should not only avoid causing harm, we should actively seek to prevent it. Philippians chapter 2, verse 4 reminds us to look not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of others. And that is very important. We mentioned uh I meant we know we talked about dogs earlier. Say you have a dog that might be a little bit aggressive, you know, could be aggressive towards people. You should absolutely put up a fence. Yes, it's gonna cost you money, but you should put up a fence to not just protect your dog, but to protect your neighbors from that dog so no one is ever hurt. We have to look out for each other. Which brings us to the fifth instruction avoid mixture that compromises purity.
Purity Lessons From Mixed Materials
SPEAKER_01Verse 9 says, You shall not sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed, lest all the produce of the seed which you have sown and the increase of the vineyard become defiled. Israel was instructed not to plant two different kinds of seed together in the same vineyard. While there are practical agricultural reasons, there was also a spiritual lesson. Throughout scripture, vineyards often picture God's people. Isaiah chapter 5, verses 1 through 7. We also see this in John chapter 15 verses 1 through 8. God desires purity, he does not want his people spiritually mixed with the world. James chapter 4 and verse 4 warns against spiritual friendship with the world. God desires wholehearted devotion. Number 6, do not be unequally yoked. Notice verse 10. You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together. God prohibited plowing with an ox and a donkey together. Different animals pull differently. The result would be confusion and frustration. Paul applied this principle spiritually in 2 Corinthians chapter 6, verse 14. Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. God desires unity built upon shared faith. And that's a that's a great example. Those two animals, one is going to be pulling in a straight line, the other one is going to be pulling maybe more at an angled line. And what's going to happen is that what you're trying to plow is not going to be straight, it's going to be crooked. It's the same way when you are walking with an unbeliever. You're unequally yoked. Maintain distinction in your daily life. We see that says the seventh instruction in verses 11 and 12. You shall not wear a material mix of wool and linen together. You shall make yourselves tassels on the four corners of your garment with which you cover yourself. Israel was instructed not to weave wool and linen together and to place tassels on their garments. The tassels reminded them of God's commandments. We saw that back in Numbers. You know what? Let's go back there real quick. Go back to Numbers 15. I know a lot of these scriptures I'm giving you, as I always say, I would like you to check out later for yourself. But some of these, you know what? I think it'll do us some good to go back and look at them again. Numbers chapter 15, where it talks about these uh tassels being a reminder. Numbers 15. We are looking at verses 37 to 41. The Lord also spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the sons of Israel and tell them that they shall make for themselves tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and that they shall put on the tassels of each corner a quart of blue, and it shall uh excuse me, and it shall be a tassel for you to look at the look at and remember all the commandments of the Lord, so as to do them and not follow after your own heart and your own eyes, after which you played the harlot, in order that you may remember to do all my commandments and be holy to your God. I am the Lord your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord your God. God often gave visible reminders to help his people remain spiritually focused. Today we may not wear tassels, but we should intentionally place reminders of God's truth before us. His word should continually shape our thinking. We see that in uh Psalm uh chapter 119 and verse 11. You know, some people as a reminder, some people will have uh a scripture on their phone screensaver, or they might have a picture of the cross or something of the like. Some people will have uh a Bible verse on their on their mirror on the mirror in their car. You probably shouldn't have it on your review mirror, but some people do, but you might have one, excuse me, but you might have a Bible verse maybe taped to it to your dashboard, things we do as reminders of the Lord and of his word, which brings us to the eighth instruction: maintain sexual purity and
Sexual Sin Justice And Protection
SPEAKER_01truthfulness. We see this in verses 13 through 29. Now, God now addresses sexual situations involving sexual purity. Why? Because God knows how destructive sexual sin can be. It's just that simple. Remember earlier when I said that sometimes we think that God is holding something back from us. A lot of us were that way when we were continually walking in sin. You know, why doesn't God want me to do these things or why is he putting because God knows best. Hebrews chapter 13 and verse 4 reminds us marriage is to be held in honor among all. Moses presents four situations, and this is the first case false accusations against a wife. Verses 13 through 21. If any man takes a wife and goes into her and then turns against her and charges her with shameful deeds and publicly defames her and says, I took this woman, but when I came near her, I did not find her a virgin. Then the girl's father and her mother shall take and bring out the evidence of the girl's virginity to the elders of the city at the gate. And the girl's father shall say to the elders, I gave my daughter to this man for a wife, but he turned against her. Behold, he has charged her with shameful deeds, saying, I did not find your daughter a virgin, but this is the evidence of my daughter's virginity, and they shall spread the garment before the elders of the city. So the elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him. They shall find him a hundred shekels of silver and give it to the girl's father, because he publicly defamed a virgin of Israel. She shall remain his wife, he cannot divorce her all his days. But if this charge is true that the girl was not found a virgin, then they shall bring out the girl to the doorway of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death because she has committed an act of folly in Israel by playing the harlot in her father's house, thus you shall purge the evil from among you. If a husband falsely accused his wife of immorality, the accusation had to be investigated. If proven false, he was publicly disciplined. He was fined and forbidden from divorcing her. See, God protects innocent people from false accusations. However, if the accusation proved true, there were consequences for deception. God values both purity and truth. Number two, adultery. We see this in verse 22. If a man is found lying with a married woman, then both of them shall die. The man who lay with the woman and the woman, thus you shall purge the evil from Israel. If consenting adults committed adultery, both were guilty. See, marriage is sacred. God does not treat covenant unfaithfulness lightly. Luckily for a lot of us in the time we live in, in this church age, in this uh age of grace, luckily that uh this was old covenant, and luckily that these laws that we are reading, don't get this mistaken, these were given to Israel. They weren't given to the Gentiles, but still, luckily for us, we are not under Israel's law, and this does not exist today because there will be a lot of us dead today, because a lot of us will not have followed that. Now, one day I'm probably gonna do a study on this because it's talking about adultery. And if you look at verse 22, what did it say that adultery is? If a man is found lying with a married woman, that is what adultery is. Uh I I don't I don't want to say something out of line here because God takes marriage very serious, uh, and he takes the bond and the commitment of marriage very serious. But adultery is a married man lying down with another married woman. So it is a man breaking the covenant that he has with his wife, and it is another woman with that man breaking the covenant with her husband. I hope that that makes sense. Number three, assault against an engaged woman. We see this in verses 23 through 27. If there is a girl who is a virgin engaged to a man, and another man finds her in the city and lies with her, then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death, the girl because she did not cry out in the city, and the man because he has violated his neighbor's wife, thus you shall purge the evil from among you. But if in the field the man finds the girl who is engaged, and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lies with her shall die. But you shall do nothing to the girl. There is no sin in the girl worthy of death, for just as a man rises against his neighbor and murders him, so is this case. When you find her in the field, the engaged girl cried out, but there was no one to save her. Moses carefully distinguishes between consensual immorality and sexual assault. If the woman consented, both were guilty. If she was attacked against her will, she was innocent. God is perfectly just, he judges according to truth, not assumptions. So these things had to be uh there had to be witnesses to say, yes, I heard that woman cry out, I went and helped her, and this was the man who did it. Case number four. Immorality involving an unengaged woman. Verses 28 through 29. If a man finds a girl who is a virgin who is not engaged and seizes her and lies with her, and they are discovered, then the man who lie with her shall uh shall give to the girl's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall become his wife because he has violated her. He cannot divorce her all her days. The man was held fuller responsible. His actions carry lifelong consequences. God constantly, consistently protects women from being discarded or exploited. Throughout these laws, we see God's concern for justice, we see his concern for purity and responsibility. Now, some of you may hear this uh thinking like, wow, you know, things were a little different back in Israel's days, back in this old covenant, but it makes a lot of sense. See, women were to be protected, and a man cannot just coerce a woman into sex if she was a virgin and she was not married and then just go on his married way. No, because a woman's virginity was her was a huge attribute that she brought to the marriage table, was her being not touched by another man. But see, now this young lady has been touched by another man, so the Lord said, No, what's gonna happen is that that woman is your wife and you cannot divorce her. So now the man was forced to take care of her all the days of his life, and that's for those of you who think that somehow men may get away with things, you know, they just they just hop around. God didn't deal with that, God was not okay with that in these times. If you took a woman, that woman had to be your wife, it was just that simple, and that also kept men from just hopping around to other women because if you hopped around to three, four, or five unengaged women, then those women would have to be your wife and you would have to take care of them. So this also kept the men in their place, and it also protected the women because now you have taken her what she was supposed to give to her husband, and then you're just kind of leaving her out there. The Lord said that's not gonna happen. You're gonna take care of her all the days of your life. Which brings us to the ninth instruction. Honor family boundaries. We see this in verse 30. A man shall not take his father's wife so that he shall not uncover his father's skirt. The final instruction prohibits a son from taking his father's wife. This protected both the sanctity of marriage and the honor of the family. God establishes boundaries because boundaries protect people. It's just that simple. Sexual sin always brings destruction, it always does. God causes people to pursue purity instead. Paul echoes this truth. He says, flee immorality. We see this in 1 Corinthians chapter 6, verse 18. Flee it. That's what Paul says. Don't turn, don't step away, flee from it. You got to get away from it quickly. And I want to say something else about uh the when it said uh a man does not take his father's uh wife. They're not talking about his mother, they're talking about uh his stepmother. Because, yes, by marriage, that's his stepmother, but technically there's no blood there. So uh in another life, he could have had that woman, but the Lord forbids it because that is still your father's wife. That's your father's nakedness, that's your father's skirt, and it was supposed to be preserved for your father. Now you remember, go back to Genesis. This happened, you know, uh back in Genesis with uh Genesis with with uh with Jacob. Uh when uh Lord, y'all have to forgive me. I forget which son was it Reuben? Oh yeah, I want to say it was Reuben laid with one of his concubines. Now, back in Genesis, that was before these laws were given, all four of those women were considered to be Jacob's wives. Either way it goes, those are Jacob's wives. His son had no business lying with one of them, even though he did. And that's what the Lord is saying here. You are not to lie with your father's wife, i.e., your stepmother. What's the conclusion?
Holiness In Daily Life And Grace
SPEAKER_01Let's get to our conclusion. Deuteronomy 22 teaches us that holiness is not confined to worship services, it is demonstrated in everyday life. God cares about how we treat our neighbors, how we care for his creation, how we build our homes, how we conduct business, how we relate to one another, and how we pursue purity. Every command reflects his holy character. That's just how it is. The New Testament calls believers to that same pursuit. Now, yes, we're talking about the old covenant, we're talking about Israel, but the New Testament is called to the same thing, and that's you and I. As he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct. 1 Peter chapter 1, verses 15 through 16. And if we've walked through this chapter, you recognize areas where you fail. I know, I know I have. I recognize areas where I failed. Remember the hope of the gospel. Paul reminded the Corinthians, the Corinthian believers, many of whom had lived in serious sin, that through faith in Jesus Christ, they have been washed, sanctified, and justified. 1 Corinthians chapter 6, verse 11. That same grace is available today. Thank the Lord. Christ not only forgives our failures, he transforms our lives. As God's people, our desire should be to walk in obedience, it should be to pursue holiness and trust that God's way always leads to his blessings. We have to remember that, people, we have to believe that. That standing on the Lord's principles and his statutes, it is always going to believe us and uh lead us into his blessings. Prayer Requests Final Encouragement And Ways To Connect
SPEAKER_01of this. As always, I ask you to continue to pray for me. Pray that I stay in good health, pray that I stay in good physical and mental strength, pray that uh I stay in good spiritual strength, that pray that the Lord is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I am praying for you. I'm praying that you are doing well in your health, I'm praying that you're doing good in your mind. I'm praying that your walk with the Lord is steady, that you are on a straight and narrow path. All right, that brings us to the end of Deuteronomy chapter 22. That is all for now. God bless.
